Karaoke for bars and event spaces—part of the same system

Run karaoke nights without a separate karaoke machine: guests join a singer queue, staff prepare the microphone and confirm each start, and the lyrics appear on your screens.

In short

  • A separate singer queue; staff confirm each start
  • Lyrics on screens for supported songs
  • Special nights can switch to karaoke on schedule
  • Party package, after a setup review of your microphone path

Package that usually fits: Party from €39 per month, net. Your venue check confirms the right package.

What it looks like in your venue

Room screen in mode 1 all-in-one: now playing, sing-along lyrics and a QR code to join in
Mode 1 · all-in-one

Real SkafRemix screens with demo data. Venue, names and song titles are invented.

How a karaoke night runs

  1. Prepare

Staff check the microphone path and switch the night to karaoke—or a scheduled special night does it.

  2. Queue

Guests join the singer queue; staff see who is next.

  3. Start

Staff confirm each start, so nobody walks up to a live microphone by surprise.

  4. Sing

Lyrics appear on your screens for supported songs; if none are available the screen shows the music information.

What you need

  • A microphone path into your sound system (checked in the venue check)
  • Screens for the lyrics (HDMI or DisplayPort)
  • The performance box with an NVIDIA graphics card (Party)

Setup-dependent, honestly

Karaoke depends on the equipment in your venue. Before you choose Party for karaoke, we confirm in the venue check that your microphone path works with SkafRemix.

Karaoke systems for a bar compared

Four common ways to run karaoke in a venue, from a living-room machine to a system that is part of the whole night.

What a karaoke system for a bar needs

Whatever you choose, these points decide whether the night works. Go through them before the first karaoke night.

  • Vocal microphones that cope with many different singers; spare batteries or charging for wireless ones
  • A free microphone input on your mixer or sound system and speakers that carry voices clearly into the room
  • A sound check against feedback, done with a test singer before guests arrive
  • Screens for the lyrics, visible to the singer and to the room
  • Queue management: a visible order and a rule such as one song per person per round
  • Volume limits: a maximum level for the night, doors and windows closed and an end time that respects your neighbours and local rules
  • Microphone hygiene: covers or cleaning between singers
  • Song rights: karaoke can need rights beyond background music, for example for showing lyrics or videos; check with your collecting society before the first night

Karaoke night formats

A few formats venues use; pick the one that fits your guests and your week.

Weekly karaoke night

A fixed night each week so regulars can plan for it. Scheduled special nights switch to karaoke at the same time every week.

Karaoke after dinner

Music during dinner, karaoke for the late part of the evening. Suits restaurants with a bar area or a separate room.

Theme nights

Decades, film and series songs or songs in one language, for example an Arabic, French or Spanish night. Prepare a list of supported songs in advance.

Duets and groups

Pairs and groups lower the barrier for guests who would never sing alone. Good for the first hour of a night.

Private parties and bookings

Birthdays, team events or a booked room with karaoke for one group. Staff still confirm each start.

Questions and answers

Is karaoke included in every package?

No. Karaoke is part of Party (€39 per month, net) and Enterprise, after a setup review of your microphone path.

Do we need a karaoke machine?

No separate karaoke machine is needed. You need a microphone path into your sound system and screens for the lyrics.

Are lyrics available for every song?

Lyrics are shown for supported songs. If none are available, the screen shows the music information instead.

Can karaoke start automatically on certain nights?

Special nights can switch to karaoke on schedule; staff still confirm each singer’s start.

What does a karaoke system for a bar need?

Microphones, a microphone input into your sound system, speakers that carry voices, screens for the lyrics and a way to manage the singer queue. With SkafRemix, the queue and the lyrics are part of the system; the microphones, speakers and screens are your own.

Are microphones and speakers included?

No. SkafRemix supplies the software and the Edge box; you use your own microphones, sound system and screens. We check your microphone path in the venue check before you choose Party.

Do we need an extra licence for karaoke?

Possibly. Karaoke can involve rights beyond background music, for example for displaying lyrics or videos, so check with your collecting society before the first night. SkafRemix supplies no songs; the licences stay with your venue.

What does karaoke with SkafRemix cost?

Karaoke is part of Party: €39 per month, net, with the performance box bought once for €1,000, or €69 per month with the box included for 34 months, then €39. Microphones, speakers, screens, licences and VAT are not included.

How do we keep karaoke from getting too loud?

With a maximum level for the night, doors and windows closed and an agreed end time. Microphones are often turned up more than needed, so check the level in the room and from outside; local rules on noise apply to karaoke as to any music.
